Boston based eegoes, the new social network on the block, has just announced that they have raised $1 million in funding "made possible" by TO SEND ANOTHER EMAIL CLOSE share Boston based eegoes , the new social network on the block, has just announced that they have raised $1 million in funding "made possible" by Projectra Ltd, GTA Capital SA and Rainbow Holding company LLC. I am unsure exactly what they mean by "made possible," but I would imagine both financial and/or consulting backing from the firms listed above. With this new funding the company has raised just over $1.5 million to date. eegoes is hoping to bring a new approach to social networking to the table. The company is really aiming to simplify the experience with a simple UI (and they mean simple), basic features and a focus on content rather than individuals. In a previous interview on BostInno cofounder Guillaume Molter said, “The problem with most social networking sites is that there’s just so much to digest. Between learning how each platform works and slogging through hundreds of status updates about your friends’ online gaming milestones and their daily horoscope, it’s easy to get overwhelmed.” This new funding will go towards completing the development of its smartphone functionality and assist in advertising and marketing projects. "For us, the aim of this funding was to enable us to further strengthen our structure and team in order to accelerate our development as well as begin putting our communication strategy in place for eegoes. We have now secured the necessary means to achieve this," said eegoes CEO and cofounder Al Zane. With the launch and extreme growth of Google+ over the last few weeks it is very impressive for another social networking site to raise funds. eegoes currently has a strong presence in Switzerland and was recently selected for the SwissMedia Incubator Program. My guess would be a lot of their initial growth was due to their international connections. However, playing with the site I did notice a fair amount U.S. based users. What do you think of eegoes?
