More details are emerging on an environmental startup we told you about in January. EcoWasteHub Corp. in Centerville is developing solid waste identification and segregation devices. The company — which earlier this year filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to raise $1.4 million through equity sales — unveiled its plans in a Cincinnati-area innovation competition. The idea centers on cutting the amount of waste going to landfills by using kiosks. These would give diners clear direction on separating food wastes, tableware products and other items into receptacles for recycling, composting and the landfill. ( Click here to see the official entry. ) Rakesh Rathore , president of EcoWasteHub, declined to comment on the company’s target market or how much it has raised through the offering. Rathore and his wife, Heena , run Centerville-based BioGreenChoice, an environmentally-friendly food packaging products company, which started selling products in 2012. While the two companies are technically independent, it would appear they are going after the same market which includes organizations with large cafeteria operations such as hospitals and schools. Rakesh is a biochemist by trade and nationally recognized researcher. The couple started Vamser Group LLC in 2008 to begin research on the best ways to make food packaging products from natural resources, which eventually led them to launch BioGreenChoice.
