Additive Manufacturing Engineering Specialist at Eaton Corporation The aerospace division of multinational power management firm Eaton Corporation is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineering Specialist to join its team, based either at the firm’s Orchard Park base in New York or its Davenport facility in Iowa. The role will be responsible for identifying and developing specific 3D printing opportunities in the MSD Division of Eaton Aerospace, and leading the implementation of the MSD’s additive manufacturing strategy. Senior Materials Engineer/Scientist at NanoAL NanoAL , a manufacturer of aluminum alloys for metal 3D printing, is recruiting a Senior Materials Engineer/Specialist to join its team. A leadership position within the R&D team, the role will involve working across all of the firm’s advanced aluminum alloy technologies, including its Addalloy powder range. Primarily, the candidate will be responsible for developing novel aluminum materials and processes that will scale to targeted markets and applications. Applicants must have USA person status, a degree in material science, metallurgy or mechanical engineering, and knowledge of phase diagrams, solid-state kinetics, metallic alloys, heat treatments, basic metallurgy, and process capabilities, among other requirements. New appointments at Sigma Labs, Xaar, Renishaw, and Mighty Buildings Kicking off this week’s slew of new hires is quality assurance software developer Sigma Labs , which has appointed Jacob Brunsberg to the role of Chief Executive Officer. As a result, Mark Ruport transitions to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, replacing John Rice who will continue as Director. Brunsberg joined Sigma Labs in September as Senior Vice President and has since been promoted to President and COO with responsibility for product direction, strategic relationships, sales, marketing, and engineering. Now, he has been appointed to the role of CEO. “We are privileged that Jacob has accepted the position of CEO, bringing a deep understanding of the additive manufacturing industry and an impressive track record of achievements since joining the company,” said Ruport. “He has been instrumental in transitioning our business model to enable distribution scale for a software-only solution through a flexible OEM model with subscription-based pricing which will lower the barrier of entry for customers with multi-printer factories. “This change is gaining momentum with customers and makes Jacob the ideal person to guide our continued transition and execute our plan.” Meanwhile, inkjet technology developer Xaar has hired Graham Tweedale to the role of Chief Operating Officer. Tweedale joined Xaar’s R&D team in 1997, helping to develop the firm’s first-generation inkjet printhead products and open the Huntingdown factory in 2007. He has since held several senior position within the company and led a number of business-critical programs and product launches. “I am delighted with Graham’s appointment as COO, and wish him continued success in this new role as we work to deliver sustainable growth and provide the inkjet opportunities our customers demand,” said John Mills, CEO of Xaar. Callanan first started at Renishaw 25 years ago as a summer placement student, and after graduating progressed from a Graduate Design Engineer at the firm into operations and general management roles. She was most recently Operations Manager to Renishaw CEO Will Lee before her latest appointment to Director of Additive Manufacturing. “I have worked closely with Louise throughout her Renishaw career and have seen first-hand the energy, commitment and passion she brings to the business,” said Sir David McMurtry, Executive Chairman at Renishaw. “Louise will drive the development of our vision for the AM group and will bring out the very best in those she works alongside. “I have every confidence in Louise’s ability to keep our customers at the very heart of our business and to find the right opportunities for growth.” Louise Callanan is Renishaw’s new Director of Additive Manufacturing. The firm has hired Russ Atassi as COO, bringing more than 20 years of experience in supply chain, R&D and manufacturing operations from his previous roles at Airbnb, Apple, and Facebook Oculus. Rene Griemens has been appointed as CFO and joins the firm from sustainable air mobility business Volocopter, and Mark Aldrich joins the firm as General Counsel, bringing decades of legal expertise in regulatory compliance, product development, and go-to-market strategies. “I’m thrilled to have Rus, Rene, and Mark join Mighty Buildings at this inflection point in our development as we expand our strategy to support our next stage of growth,” said Slava Solonytsin, Mighty Buildings CEO. “The enormous experience and expertise that they bring will accelerate the roll-out of our platform to enable developers to rapidly scale housing deployments and make sustainable living a reality for more customers. “The opportunity and demand are massive, and today we have the team in place to not only tap into that demand, but to do so with minimal carbon footprint and enviable speed of execution.” New facilities from GE Aviation, CAES, and Siemens GE Aviation , a multinational provider of jet engines, components, and integrated systems, has set up a center of excellence in emerging technologies in Tamil Nadu, India, in partnership with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). The facility is designed to create an ecosystem of advanced research and development using additive technologies, and will produce aviation engine parts such as compressor heat exchanges, combustor components, casing frames, gears, and splines. The center will also aim to develop Indian intellectual property (IP) for the 3D printing technologies, including materials, machines, and software. Elsewhere, Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions (CAES) has opened its new Radio Frequency (RF) Additive Manufacturing Laboratory in Exeter, New Hampshire. The facility will support the firm’s partnership with fellow electronics company SWISSto12 to deliver new 3D printing technologies to the US aerospace and defense industry. The center contains dedicated equipment for 3D printed RF technology design and manufacturing including a qualified Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) machine, associated process support equipment, proprietary metal finishing and plating line, and complete RF testing capability.
