The annual report noted that much of that was down to money spent on non-recurring revenue following recent acquisitions. The business spent £900,000 on its Easyspace domain name for hosting mass business. The company’s earnings before tax were £41.4m for the year - down from £43.5m in 2020 - with the total profit before tax coming in at £12.5m - from £16.8m. Non-executive chairman Ian Steele praised recently-appointed chief executive Reece Donovan for the medium to long-term strategy which took the company through the pandemic, following founder and lon-time chief executive Angus MacSween's retirement. In order to do this, the company will make further acquisitions, expand its services with a focus on hybrid cloud, security, the future digital workplace and connectivity. Donovan wants to protect and expand run rate revenue and earnings, in order to give the company more cash flow to spend. Iomart's cloud services grew by £100,000 to take it to £99.9m, while Easyspace has made £11.9m this year so far. Donovan will focus on expanding the company’s cloud services, noting difficulties in expanding its Easyspace system, which was reduced from £12.8m in 2020. Expansion will require a more “commoditised market with the need for a high marketing budget”, so will focus on retaining its existing clientele. Iomart agreed a final dividend of 4.50p per share, which was higher than last year's 3.93p per share, with a total dividend ending at 7.10 per per share, to reflect the company’s “strong” position.
