Easyfood - adding capacity Nordic food manufacturer Orkla has revealed that Easyfood, the Danish snack food business in which it has a majority stake, is to build additional production capacity. It said Easyfood, a bread-based convenience food maker, is preparing for increased growth in international markets through the expansion of its bakery facility in Kolding in southern Denmark. A third production line will be ready at the facility by the end of 2022. Orkla is spending "three-digit millions" on the project. The new production line will handle Easyfood's production of sausage rolls, while the two existing lines will be freed up for the development of "more specialised" products. Easyfood's product are predominantly sold in coffee shops and cafes. Its CEO, Flemming Paasch, said: "2020 is still going to be a bad year for us. But after some tough months, we are now being flooded with new orders, and we can see that 2021 will once again be a year of growth for Easyfood. "The customers we talk to and work with today are so large that we need to be able to provide greater capacity when they place an order. Now, we can both take a quantum leap with our production of salty snacking products and secure the capacity to develop internationally." Easyfood is expected to target markets such as Sweden, Norway and Finland, where Oslo-headquartered Orkla is already strong.
