DVDO Puts Roku into Ultra HD 4K HDMI Switcher

Jul 15, 2014

DVDO Puts Roku into Ultra HD 4K HDMI Switcher The new Quick6R can add over 1,500 streaming channels of entertainment into that 4K setup. July 15, 2014 by Rachel Cericola If you’re planning to connect a lot of components to that Ultra HD 4K TV or even share some of the content throughout the house, you’re going to need an HDMI switcher. A new one to look at is DVDO’s new Quick6R because it adds in something extra special: 1,500 channels of streaming entertainment. Designed as a follow-up to the Quick6 , the new Quick6R is Roku Ready certified, so you can easily add a Roku Streaming Stick (Roku Ready version) to the setup without the need for wires or extra remotes. It’s important to note that the Roku Streaming Stick is sold separately for $69. Of course, the Quick6R does have HDMI ports, but it also has an MHL port specifically made for that version of the Streaming Stick. Just plug it in, connect the Stick to your home network, and start streaming! The Quick6R can also add 4K switching, Silicon Image’s InstaPrevue feature, and a host of other options into your AV setup, all without having to replace the receiver. Besides the Roku features, the new switcher also has a brand new remote. Six of the HDMI inputs can accommodate 4K, while two include MHL support (one for the Roku Streaming Stick and a second for mobile devices). Other features include picture-in-picture, Audio Return Channel (ARC), S/PDIF optical and coax outputs, a USB port, and more. Note, that adding a Roku Streaming Stick to this 4K HDMI switcher won’t make your Roku able to output 4K content. Hopefully Roku will come out with a new product soon that fully supports 4K Ultra HD. By the way, there’s also a plain-old HDMI version of the Roku Streaming stick for $49, which doesn’t require an MHL port. DVDO is selling the Quick6R now, with an MSRP of $429. Also Check Out:
