Garmin introduces Next-Gen Dive Technologies with the Descent Series: Mk3 and G1 Ocean Edition

Nov 16, 2023

Garmin introduces Next-Gen Dive Technologies with the Descent Series: Mk3 and G1 Ocean Edition Introducing the Descent Mk3 Series and Descent G1 Solar – Ocean Edition, Redefining the Depths of Exploration and Environmental Responsibility Garmin, a global leader in GPS technology and smartwatches, sets a new standard in diving technology with the release of the Descent Mk3 series and the Descent G1 Solar – Ocean Edition. These innovative dive computers redefine the underwater experience, offering advanced features, eco-friendly design, and enhanced capabilities for divers of all levels. Descent Mk3 Series: Explore the depths confidently and safely Garmin’s Descent Mk3 series, a watch-style dive computer, is a leap forward in diving technology. With a 200-meter dive rating, vibrant touchscreen AMOLED display, and a built-in flashlight on the 51mm Descent Mk3i, this series caters to both recreational and technical divers. Purpose-built with a dive-first approach to design, the Descent Mk3 series comes in two sizes – 43mm and 51mm. The 51mm Descent Mk3i also comes with a built-in LED flashlight for greater visibility in low-light conditions—even underwater. The Descent Mk3 series is complemented by the Descent T2 transceiver, introducing diver-to-diver messaging (coming soon), Diver Assistance, and tank pressure monitoring through an upcoming software update. Key Features: New advancements on the Descent Mk3 series make it possible to dive with greater peace of mind. Diver Assistance (coming soon): In critical situations, divers using the Descent Mk3i and Descent T2 transceiver can swiftly request aid through SubWave sonar technology. This groundbreaking tool allows them to send an assistance alert to connected divers, who can monitor their depth and distance until help is no longer needed. Diver-to-diver messaging (coming soon): Utilizing SubWave technology, Descent Mk3i and Descent T2 transceiver users can exchange preset messages with nearby divers, fostering communication up to 30 meters away. Dive group tracking: With air integration, the Descent T2 transceiver enables divers to monitor the depth and tank pressure of up to eight fellow divers within a 10-meter range. Dive-focused design: The Descent Mk3i boasts a 200-meter dive-rated case with a robust sapphire lens, operating twice as deep as its predecessors. The metal buttons, leakproof and fully functional at 200 meters, coupled with a vivid touchscreen AMOLED display, ensure optimal visibility even underwater. Built-in LED flashlight: Exclusive to the 51mm Descent Mk3i, the integrated LED flashlight with strobe mode enhances visibility in low-light conditions both above and below the water. Dive readiness: Assess lifestyle factors affecting dive preparedness. A higher readiness score signals optimal conditions for diving, while a lower score may prompt consideration of a higher conservatism setting or an easier dive. Additional Features: DiveView maps with bathymetric depth contours and 4,000+ preloaded dive sites. Premium multisport GPS smartwatch capabilities. Fitness features, wellness insights, and navigation tools for everyday adventures. Connected features: Smart notifications, music streaming, and more. Available soon in the Philippines, the 43mm Descent Mk3 has a suggested retail price of PHP74,990.00 The 43mm Descent Mk3i with added air integration and driver messaging capabilities available in Carbon Gray or Bronze Titanium Bezel options are available for PHP87,890.00 Meanwhile, the 51mm Descent Mk3i with air integration, diver messaging capabilities and a larger display, available in Carbon Gray DLC titanium bezel and black silicone band is priced at PHP99,990.00. The Descent T2 transmitter is priced at PHP31,390.
