How to Succeed in the Rough and Tumble World of Management Consulting? Compete in the Tough Markets!

How to Succeed in the Rough and Tumble World of Management... -- LADERA RANCH, Calif., June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- 2014 How to Succeed in the Rough and Tumble World of Management Consulting? Orange County (CA) Company Takes on the Consulting Giants in the Japanese Market and Elsewhere LADERA RANCH, Calif., June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- On June 4, DestinHaus, a management consulting company headquartered in Orange County, California, celebrates its seventh anniversary. In today's ultra-competitive management consulting market, how does a small company survive, and even thrive, for seven years? By competing in the toughest markets! DestinHaus launched its business by focusing on the difficult-to-enter Japanese market and found clients among industry leaders like Nissan, Mitsui, Sumitomo and Fujitsu. Looking to the future, DestinHaus is expanding its horizon to India, Brazil and emerging technologies in health care. The story behind DestinHaus is that of power-duo Murli and Hema Nathan. Both were born in India but came to the US for their education. Murli earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from MIT and an MBA from University of Chicago. Hema received a PhD in Physics from Purdue, worked for Argonne national labs, and worked in education in the US and England. Murli started off his career with Amoco and after BP acquired Amoco, Murli took the opportunity to work in London where he headed one of BP's European businesses which had clients around the globe. The experience at BP led Murli to the observation that corporations turned to investment banks for help with mergers and acquisitions but a large percentage of acquisitions were not being successful. Investment banks lacked the industry expertise and did not focus on ensuring value creation from the M&A transactions they espoused. Hema and Murli saw an opening: "We realized that identifying growth opportunities and completing the transaction was not sufficient. It is imperative that those providing the advice continue working with their client companies in order to successfully realize the value of the mergers or acquisitions. " There was a market need for industry focused Strategy Consulting Services that combined advice on transactions with hands-on business building. In 2007, Murli and Hema Nathan started DestinHaus, quickly putting together a team of industry experts in the five core areas: chemicals, automotive, energy, electronics and life sciences. DestinHaus leveraged relationships and found its first client in Nissan. That led to establishing a satellite office in Tokyo and contracts with other major Japanese companies. Over the past seven years, DestinHaus has established a successful track record of helping its Japanese clients further globalize their businesses. When asked how a US company formed by Indian immigrants could win the trust of large Japanese corporations, Murli responds: "We understand the Japanese way of doing business. Language is only one small piece of the puzzle. The major requirement is cultural symmetry. " The cultural sensitivity is just a door-opener. DestinHaus delivers results based on a global team of industry experts, each with more than 20 years of work at senior levels. In addition to Japan, DestinHaus has also been working on client projects involving the US, India, Germany, Spain, England, France, Brazil, Malaysia, Korea and the Middle East. What's next for DestinHaus? DestinHaus wants to use its expertise to help US and European companies enter the Japanese and Indian markets. Murli points out: "We certainly believe that Japan presents great opportunities for US and European companies. The recent elections in India have produced tremendous excitement around a new pro-business environment. " Hema also looks towards healthcare as a growth market for DestinHaus. "Patient engagement will be the key to success for new technologies and business models. We plan to capitalize on the huge growth in this sector for our clients.
