(Photo courtesy of Dalux) The increasing use of BIM and digital technologies within construction has attracted BIM-Contech company Dalux to Toronto. The company cited the city’s reputation for having progressive contractors as a key reason for it to open its first Canadian office in the country’s largest city. “I’m extremely proud to be introducing Dalux to the Canadian market. Opening our Liberty Village office in Toronto, a city that is a global leader in terms of new construction, was a top priority for Dalux in 2023,” stated Brendan Pigott, country manager for Canada. “Having local presence is at the core of our beliefs to ensure we deliver the best service possible and the kinds of outcomes our clients expect.” Dalux has gained its international audience with an in-house developed BIM visualization technology that the company says was the first to ever show a BIM model on an iPad. The platform aims to be simple to use and is designed to work on Android and iOS devices to view 2D content in a 3D context, even allowing users to experience augmented reality (AR) with TwinBIM. “We’re excited to be opening this office and showing Toronto and the rest of Canada that you can have BIM software that is simple and easy to use, regardless of whether you’re standing on-site in a muddy hole in the howling wind or in the office getting to grips with the consultant’s design,” added Malthe Slemming, the company’s vice-president.
