About CurvyGirls Bridal

Bridal is the most inefficient marketplace imaginable. The normal process is that a bride will go into a salon, try on several dresses, select one and order it in her size. The samples in salons are size 8 or 10, because that is easy for the salons to order. But the median U.S. bridal size is almost 18! The average bride, a 16 or 18, simply cannot try on gowns. We have about 500 samples, from size 10 to 32, offering choice to brides regardless of size or shape. In our first full year, 2011, we did $550K, and last year we did $975K in a business where most salons are doing $200-300K. We can readily handle 2-3x the current volume. We draw brides from across the country and from overseas as well -- which says that a network of 5-6 salons would cover the US market. We seek significant equity funding (and offer a large stake) to expand here and to 5-6 more sites over the next few years, and launch a large TV market ad program to drown out any competition.$200-300K.
