CPA2Biz, the technology subsidiary of the American Institute of CPAs, is launching a new conference for firms that want to maximize growth with innovative services delivered through the cloud. The Digital CPA Cloud User Conference  will be held Oct. 28-30, 2012, at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in Washington, DC. The event will offer hands-on training, as well as a discussion of firm technology trends and practice development tools. Featured speakers will include Geoffrey Moore, the technology business strategist and author of “Crossing the Chasm,” noted commentator George F. Will, and executives from CPA2Biz’s strategic business solutions partners. “Cloud and mobile technologies are transforming the way firms and businesses operate today,” said  Erik Asgeirsson , president and CEO of CPA2Biz. “At our user conference, you’ll learn how to harness these tools to create new business opportunities, reinforce client relationships and grow your client accounting services practice.”
XCM Solutions, the workflow management firm, is folding its annual users conference into the CPA2Biz event. “XCM is thrilled to be part of Digital CPA, and we think our customers will benefit from its focused, all-in-one approach,” said  Mark Albrecht , CPA, MST, XCM’ Solutions’ founder and CEO. “Workflow is one of the key drivers of building a state-of-the-art firm. At this conference, we will be providing firms with practical knowledge on how to do this.”
Many sessions will be led by practitioners with substantial expertise in the tools, resources and training firms need to create new service lines and profit centers. Items on the agenda will include:

CPA2Biz to Offer Blueprint for Transforming Firms at Digital CPA Conference

Most CPA firm leaders are asking themselves the wrong question when it comes to technology, according to Erik Asgeirsson, president and CEO of CPA2Biz. “The time for wondering if your firm should move to the cloud is past,” Asgeirsson said as CPAs gathered for the AICPA Practitioners Symposium and Tech+ Conference, the largest annual event for small to midsize firms interested in practice growth. “What you should be asking is, ‘What concrete steps do I need to take right now to transform my practice.’”

Geoffrey Moore, an expert on high-tech innovation and author of the bestselling business book, “Crossing the Chasm,” recently said: “Most firms are dangerously ‘unpresent’ in this digital ecosystem.” Moore will deliver a keynote address in October at CPA2Biz’s  Digital CPA User Conference  in Washington, D.C., an event designed to guide firms through the transition to the cloud. At Practitioners Symposium, leaders of early-adopter firms spoke about the necessary steps to build a successful client accounting services practice. Critical components include having a champion within the firm, choosing the right technology platform, implementing a standardized approach, focusing on industry niches and–most of all–successfully handling change management. Popularity of “CPA.com Email Solutions” Continues To Grow Among AICPA Members
CPA2Biz, the technology subsidiary of the American Institute of CPAs, has announced that its CPA.com Email Solutions has won a prestigious 2012 Tax & Accounting Technology Innovation Award from CPA Practice Advisor. This is the second major award the CPA-branded email service has won this year following its recent feat in February when it was named a 2012 Top New Product by Accounting Today. CPA2Biz is one of only five companies to receive a 2012 Innovation Award, a recognition CPA Practice Advisor says is “designed to honor new or recently enhanced technologiesthat benefit (accounting) professionals and their client relationships.” The independent publication received more than 80 entries for the competition this year. “CPA2Biz is leading the way for accounting firms in this time of critical change in the profession,” said M. Users get a personal email address that combines their name with the CPA.com domain ( YourName@CPA.com ). For $95.95 a year, subscribers can get a business-class offering that includes full Contacts and Calendar functionality, anti-spam and antivirus protection, up to 25GB of mail storage space, and the ability to access and manage messages from Microsoft Outlook, webmail and mobile devices. A message forwarding option that works with a subscriber’s existing email service is available for $29.95 a year. “We’re thrilled to get the recognition from CPA Practice Advisor, but we’re just as excited with the positive feedback from CPAs who’ve signed up for the service,” said Erik Asgeirsson, president and CEO of CPA2Biz. “It really does fill a need. When the American Institute of CPAs decided to give its members new tools to make them more productive on the go, it turned to its technology subsidiary, CPA2Biz. The AICPA this week launched two new mobile apps–The Journal of Accountancy News App for iPad™, and the CPA Exam Aid for iPhone™ and Android™ devices– and also announced a mobile-friendly version of its online store, cpa2biz.com. All three projects were spearheaded by CPA2Biz’s development team based in Santa Clara, Calif.
“Mobile technology is changing the way CPAs consume information and interact with clients,” said Erik Asgeirsson, president and CEO of CPA2Biz. “Our aim is to put the best professional resources literally in the hands of AICPA members, so the information is always available no matter where they are or what time it might be.”

CPA2Biz , a subsidiary of the American  Institute of Certified Public Accountants, opened its doors in Dexter on Monday. The marketing and technology firm provides products such as publications, webcasts, virtual conferences, cloud-based software and continuing  professional education to CPAs and  financial professionals nationwide. "I think Dexter is a great place to grow our business," CEO Erik  Asgeirsson said. "We support 45,000 accounting firms across the United States, and Dexter is centrally located to be able to service the east, west and southern regions of the country. "
Michael Cerami, vice president of corporate alliances, said the decision to open the Dexter branch came after hiring David Pollak, the company's vice president of sales, and a longtime Dexter resident. "Dave resides (in the community) and there's this great talent pool right here in Southeast Michigan," Cerami said. "The good education system gives us the opportunity to bring quality individuals into the organization. "
