Seeley International is Australia’s biggest manufacturer of air conditioning units and also has its own line of energy-efficient cooling and heating equipment. The company’s lines include Breezair, Convair, Coolair, Braemar and Climate Wizard. “We’re excited about these guys,” Teynor said of Seeley. Seeley, a private manufacturing company in Adelaide, Australia, has offices in six countries including a sales office in Phoenix it’s had for about 30 years. Seeley has about 400 employees and sells its products in 100 countries. “The addition of Coolerado’s innovative and award-winning products to our portfolio demonstrates our commitment and leadership in providing energy efficient air conditioning products,” said Frank Seeley , Seeley International’s founder and executive chairman, in a statement. “This acquisition establishes a U.S.-based manufacturing facility which is another exciting step in our growth strategy as we look to move closer to our North American customers,” Seeley said. Seeley's announcement said the company "intends to considerably increase its North American operations with a multi-million dollar capital injection designed to increase product availability and customer service" Coolerado’s management “is intact, going to stay around and [will] be part of a much larger operation,” said Teynor. Coolerado has about 35 employees. Teynor said Seeley plans to invest “north of $1 million, maybe more like $2 million” into Coolerado, with new automation equipment aimed at driving down costs of making Coolerado’s air conditioning unit. And the deal means Coolerado will expand the product lines it offers by adding the Breezair, Seeley’s direct evaporative cooling unit as well as Seeley’s heating products, Teynor mean. Seeley’s network of dealerships also will add Coolerado’s product to their offerings — meaning Coolerado will now be available in the 100 countries where Seeley sells its equipment, he said. For Seeley, the deal offered the chance to acquire a manufacturing operation that could be expanded, Teynor said. “Seeley was looking for a manufacturing headquarters, and right now they’re leaning toward Denver,” Teynor said. “And if so, then we could be making all their product lines here. It would be a substantial operation.” Teynor said the expanded manufacturing operation, if Seeley decides to put it in Denver, would need between 100,000 and 300,000 square feet of space to meet the needs of the North American market.
