China News, 1/09/17 Beijing-based Constellation Goddess Culture Communications, operator of online astrology and horoscope information platform Constellation Goddess, has announced the completion of RMB 30 mln Series A funding led by Zuoyu Investment Management, and with participation from Tsing Ventures, Chinese Android device maker Xiaomi, and Weiyue Investment. The funding will be used for smart astrological data development, and recruitment and placement of a new-media video content team. Constellation Goddess is a new-media entertainment content provider of astrology-related themes, and is available through accounts on Chinese social media platforms Weibo (Nasdaq: WB) and Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat. The company also operates a mobile SNS app Xingmi (literally "Star Honey"), which uses astrological signs to connect users and offers female users with horoscope readings. Constellation Goddess launched a horoscope-theme reality show, Star Wars (in Chinese "Zuiqiang Xingzhan"), at the end of 2015. The show has had more than 150 mln plays on online video site Youku, with an average of 14 mln views per episode. Constellation Goddess will expand on Star Wars with a broad entertainment strategy, including new media videos, variety programs, and online soaps. The company is currently preparing a screenplay for the film adaptation of young adult novel Yi Guangnian de Juli You Duoyuan (literally "How Far Is a Lightyear?").
