Richard Curtis added: “The Red Nose has always been a tiny thing that makes a huge difference. It’s been on quite a journey over the past three decades and has transformed in the most wonderful ways – from a slightly painful piece of plastic to a tomato to a sponge to woodland themed creatures. Now we enter a new era and are delighted to bring you a completely new Red Nose to enjoy, thanks to our friend the design genius, Jony Ive.” Gethin Jones has revealed that he will “super-size” Morning Live’s Strictly Fitness feature and dance for 24 hours straight to raise money for the charity. Every hour a different strictly pro or judge will take the lead to put him through his paces. The broadcast will begin during BBC Morning Live on the morning of Thursday the 16th March, and continue in the Manchester studio throughout the day and night, finishing at 10am Red Nose day. “I cannot WAIT to get started on this epic Strictly Fitness challenge for Comic Relief. It’s going to be absolutely brutal, and take all I’ve got, but I’m doing everything I can to train and get ready for the big day, because I’m determined to raise as much money as possible,” said Jones. “I love Red Nose Day and everything they do for people going through the toughest times of their lives, in the UK and around the world. Every day on Morning Live we talk about, and hear, how much people are struggling right now. It’s never felt more important to throw everything into trying to help, and raise as much as we can for those who need it most. And hopefully, have a little fun along the way too. Well, maybe for the first hour!” Samir Patel, CEO of Comic Relief, added: “Each year, we are completely blown away by the extraordinary lengths our celebrity supporters and partners will go to, to raise money to help others and this year is no exception. We are enormously grateful to Gethin and the Morning Live team for taking on this incredible 24-hour challenge for Red Nose Day at a time when donations have never felt more needed. We’re all rooting for you Gethin and here for you every step of the way!” Money raised will support people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and tackle issues such as homelessness, mental health problems, and food poverty in the UK and around the world.
