Private equity firm Education Growth Partners acquired Apex Learning while Sylvan Learning purchased Citelighter, among other acquisitions. Education Growth Partners Acquires Apex Learning: Education Growth Partners , a private equity firm that provides growth capital to education companies, has acquired Apex Learning , according to a statement . Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Seattle-based Apex Learning provides a standard-based digital curriculum. Cheryl Vedoe, CEO of Apex, said the private equity firm’s focus on educational outcomes that change the lives of students in school districts across the country, as well as their prior operating experience, “makes them ideal partners.” She also noted that day-to-day operations at Apex will not change. Sylvan Learning Acquires Citelighter: Sylvan Learning has acquired Baltimore-based digital writing solution provider Citelighter for an undisclosed sum, according to a statement from Sylvan. “The acquisition of Citelighter rounds out Sylvan’s new national writing program set to launch this fall,” Sylvan said in the statement. “Through its franchisee presence in hundreds of markets across the country, the brand plans to grow its footprint in writing composition, both with schools as well as offering direct to consumer writing composition courses.” Sylvan said it will also continue to support all the school districts across the country that have implemented Citelighter to-date. Citelighter aims to help students break down writing tasks and enable teachers and administrators to create assignments, real-time assessments, and standards-based grading, according to the company website. Last year, the company raised $2.1 million from several investors. Epiphany Learning Acquires My Learning Collaborative Solution: Ed-tech company Epiphany Learning has acquired K-12 competency-based education platform My Learning Collaborative Solution (myLC) for an undisclosed sum, according to a statement . The acquisition is “a major milestone for Epiphany Learning as it continues its mission to make personalized learning a reality in classrooms throughout the world,” the company statement said. Epiphany Learning, based in Wauwatosa, Wis., provides a learning relationship management (LRM) platform for K-12 schools. The acquisition of myLC “adds a best-in-class competency-based workflow platform–the most critical link between personalized learning educational technologies and measuring learner progress–to the Epiphany Learning brand portfolio,” the statement said. Telegraph Media Group Acquires Gojimo: Telegraph Media Group acquired London-based exam preparation app Gojimo , according to a report from TechCrunch . Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Gojimo, an education software company, provides Gojimo Revision, a free app for students and teachers. The company secured backing from some of Europe’s top investors, including Index Ventures and consumer venture fund JamJar Investments, according to the Gojimo website.
