Agartala, May 18 (PTI) Three days after Biplab Kumar Deb resigned as chief minister of Tripura, his wife Niti Deb has filed a police complaint, alleging that a fake report attributed to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is being circulated on social media in the name of her husband. In her complaint lodged at West Agartala Police Station on Tuesday, Niti stated that she received a message on WhatsApp on May 16 and its content “was absolutely false, defamatory and full of incitement”. “…On enquiry, I found that the WhatsApp number itself is fake and probably used unauthorisedly. The contents are attributed to Central Intelligence Agency, while on initial personal enquiry, I have grave doubts that the so-called report is actually non-existent and being circulated in the name of the ex-chief minister so as to create sensation and also infringe the security and sovereignty of the nation as a result of a deep rooted conspiracy,” she wrote in the complaint. Niti urged the authorities to take appropriate action against the culprits. Asked about the complaint, West Agartala Police Station officer-in-charge Subrata Chakraborty said, “We have received it. Kimber served more than 37 years in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), including as the first female Deputy Director of the CIA for Operations (DDO). As DDO, Kimber was responsible for overseeing the CIA’s worldwide human intelligence operations and networks, as well as the CIA’s foreign intelligence collection and covert action missions. “Two Six Technologies is a unique company focused on addressing some of the most critical and challenging threats to U.S. national security,” said Kimber. “I am thrilled to join the team to help deliver the innovative technologies urgently needed by our defense, intelligence, and operational customers.”
Kimber joined the CIA in January 1985 and was promoted into the Senior Intelligence Service in 2002. She served 18 years of her career in field operational positions, including as Chief of Station and DNI Representative. She also served as Acting Deputy Director of CIA (Acting DDCIA), the first Assistant Director of CIA for Europe and Eurasia, and Deputy Director of the National Clandestine Service. Kimber received a Bachelor of Arts in History and French from Hamilton College in 1984 and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. William MacMillan, former Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the Central Intelligence Agency ( CIA ), has joined Salesforce as SVP, Security Product and Program Management, BISO, and Acquisition Integration. After serving 10 years as a combat rescue and special operations pilot in the Air Force, MacMillan spent nearly two decades at the CIA, where he played a key part in driving the agency’s digital transformation. This culminated in his role as the Agency’s CISO, reshaping the CIA’s cybersecurity strategy. Every organization must adopt a cybersecurity strategy to mitigate when, not if, bad actors target sensitive data. MacMillan’s service at the CIA gave him a deep understanding of the threat landscape facing today’s economy; he now joins Salesforce ready to act as a trusted digital advisor in the shared responsibility of protecting customer data. “William’s experience and unique knowledge about both the public sector and the importance of public-private collaboration is unparalleled,” said Vikram Rao, Chief Trust Officer, Salesforce. “It’s more important than ever for public and private sector organizations to collaborate in actively managing cybersecurity risk and building resilience.”

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the first line of defense for the United States, has announced the appointment of Nand Mulchandani to serve as its first-ever chief technology officer (CTO).  


With more than 25 years’ experience working in Silicon Valley as well as the Department of Defense (DoD), Indian-origin Mulchandani brings substantial private sector, startup, and government expertise to CIA.
As the CTO, Mulchandani will ensure the Agency is leveraging cutting-edge innovations and scanning the horizon for tomorrow’s innovations to further CIA’s mission, CIA said in a statement.  
“Since my confirmation, I have prioritized focusing on technology and the new CTO position is a very important part of that effort.  I am delighted Nand has joined our team and will bring his extensive experience to this crucial new role,” said CIA Director William J Burns announcing the appointment.
Prior to joining CIA, Mulchandani most recently served as the CTO and Acting Director of DoD’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center.  He also co-founded and was CEO of several successful startups– Oblix (acquired by Oracle), Determina (acquired by VMWare), OpenDNS (acquired by Cisco), and ScaleXtreme (acquired by Citrix).  
He has a degree in Computer Science and Math from Cornell, a Master of Science degree in Management from Stanford, and a Master in Public Administration degree from Harvard.
“I am honoured to join CIA in this role and look forward to working with the Agency’s incredible team of technologists and domain experts who already deliver world-class intelligence and capabilities to help build a comprehensive technology strategy that delivers exciting capabilities working closely with industry and partners,” said Mulchandani.
