Individually taking care of employees through HR practises and offering them new challenges every two years would be crucial for organisations, says C K Ranganathan, president, All India Management Association. The widespread resentment about existing jobs that most employees are doing, resulting in mass resignations, is one of the biggest challenges that the businesses are facing in the post-COVID world, said C K Ranganathan, president, All India Management Association (AIMA) and chairman & managing director of consumer goods maker CavinKare. Speaking at the seventh National Leadership Conclave of the professional body, he stressed upon addressing the needs individual employees in an organisation through newer human resource practises to maintain stability at the turbulent times. According to Ranganathan, nearly 80 per cent of the employees are planning to change their jobs. This “poses a big challenge for employers. How can we build an organisation when people are not stable?”, he wondered. “The employees are looking at what is the value that they can get. They expect their compensations to go up, they are in a hurry to grow and they do not want to do the same job repeatedly for a long period. These are important things are younger employees are now seeking and its very important that we address them”, said Ranganathan. To address the issue, at CavinKare, the management has already initiated measures. By individually measuring the employee’s needs and aspirations and offering them newer challenges that keeps them invested in their jobs, is at the core of its strategy. “We already have a learning and development function within HR but are looking to accelerate and individually measuring the moods of employees. The question is, what can we do to keep them engrossed in their jobs and look outside. It is being monitored and measured closely. We don’t want to keep them doing the same job for more than two years. Adding value to the job, making it interesting and challenging is crucial”, he added. According to Srinivas Dempo, senior vice-president, AIMA and chairman of Dempo Group of Companies, retaining talent has become a “huge challenge” that is impacting even the largest of the multinational corporations. “Every organisation needs to build a culture that defines the company and keep its employees happy”, he said. With the changing business environment and the mindset of employees, the top management needs to be more open to shared leadership, where every employee would have a say in decision making. Further, the role of a business leader is turning significantly challenging as, apart from the internal stakeholders, they now need to be approachable by external stakeholders like the communities. “Today a large part of my time goes into staying in touch with the communities”, he said.

Catering to a varied palate, FMCG major CavinKare’s snacks brand - Garden on Friday announced the launch of four new exciting variants under its hot potato wafer range. Bringing to market the flavours from across the globe, Garden has launched Sweet Thai Chilli, Chinese Masala, Tikka Masala and Tangy Tomato. The move also marks the company’s efforts to further strengthen its position in the snacks segment by catering to younger consumers with an exposure to global cuisine. New Delhi: Packaged consumer goods and services company CavinKare on Wednesday announced its foray into the quick service restaurant or QSR segment selling fried chicken, pizzas, and burgers under the Jango’z brand. It has already launched an outlet in Chennai, with plans to set up over 100 outlets across the country by 2026. Jango’z could add ₹150 crore in business over the next five years. Earlier this year, the Chennai-based company announced restructuring plans under the CavinKare 2.0 strategy. The move was directed to expand the group’s focus on e-commerce, retail, FMCG and research and development. As part of the announcement-the company had set a target to achieve a turnover of ₹5,000 crore over the next few years; apart from ₹900 crore in investments across verticals. CavinKare’s portfolio of brands operate across categories such as personal care, professional care, dairy, snacks, foods, beverages and salons. It sells brands such as Chik and Nyle shampoos, Spinz deodorant, snacks under Ruchi and Garden among several others. It also has a chain of salons. Entry into the QSR space is in line with the comapny's refreshed CavinKare 2.0 strategy, Manuranjith Ranganathan, director of retail at the company said. “Retail is one of the important divisions in CavinKare where we have made significant investments and have major diversification plans in the future as well. One of the steps in the direction is this entry with the launch of Jango’z that is set to disrupt the space with CavinKare innovation edge. With the segment poised to grow at a 15.4% CAGR coupled with untapped potential tier-2 and tier-3 markets, we are confident that Jango’z will become a 150 Crore brand by 2026," Ranganathan said. India’s food services industry was estimated at Rs.4.2 billion in FY20; by FY25, it is expected to be worth Rs.6.5 billion, according to a December report by brokerage Motilal Oswal Financial Services. Global as well as homegrown fast-food chains such as McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, Domino's, Burger King, Wendy’s among others have rapidly expanded in the country on the back of a large population and growing demand for restaurant style food in the country.
