Betclic takes a ride on the Lisbon Metro to present Art Dunk – Meios & Publicidade

May 27, 2023

May 27, 2023 Until May 31, the Cais do Sodré metro station, in Lisbon, will host the project Art Dunk, which challenged twelve artists to create pieces of art out of 24 used basketballs. The exhibition, open to the public, showcases the creativity of names such as Fiumani, Kruella D’Enfer, Arashida or Tamara Alves in an initiative that has the signature of Betclic Collective – the incubator of circular economy projects of the betting platform that seeks to cause social impact positive through sport – and curated by Underdogs. Among the works, there are balls that have been transformed into foxes, sports tennis shoes, complex multimedia installations with integrated videos and others that have become colorful tables. The varied inspirations reinforce the relationship between urban art and basketball and symbolize, in this project, Betclic’s desire to democratize access to sport and culture. “We believe that creating a positive impact through sport is very important – and doing so through circular economy projects that connect culture and sport is what makes more and more sense and that is why Betclic Collective exists”, he comments. Pureza Sousa, country manager for Betclic in Portugal. The official adds that, “with Art Dunk, we are committed to a project that takes into account environmental sustainability, the recovery of a public space and support for artistic creation. We want to bring people closer to basketball through art and also offer conditions for the practice of the modality to new talents. Basketball starts in the streets, among friends, as well as urban art and this is a project that encourages free and inclusive access to both”. The exhibition is open until May 31, always from 9am to 7.30pm, in the main hall of the metro and train station of Cais do Sodré, in Lisbon. All exhibited pieces are for sale online at www.artdunk.pt have a unique value and the revenue generated from the sale of each piece will revert – in full – to the requalification of a public basketball court.
