UKHotViews As far as I know, Will Shu hasn’t taken Deliveroo into dog food delivery – yet – though he’s not averse to adding new business models to the mix (see Deliveroo and the ‘Alternative Performance Measures’ ). London-based Butternut Box, has, though, and is attracting much investor interest. Depending on which PR you read, Butternut Box, which was founded in 2016, has raised £20m or £40m (might have been the latter in two stages) in a funding round led by L Catterton, with White Star Capital, Five Seasons Ventures and seed backer Passion Capital also participating. Basically, Butternut Box makes its own dog food using ‘human-quality ingredients – tasted by humans’ and delivers them to pet owners on a subscription basis. However, what I can’t tell you is where the kitchen is (they’ve grown out of cofounder David Nolan’s home) or how much they charge. That might be because the business is now closed to new clients. This could be a good thing or a bad thing. But I have to say, Butternut Box’s website is a real hoot. I’ll leave it you to read the FAQ’s purportedly from owners' pets!
