NEWS: IDmission Names Entrepreneurial Executive Miles Busby as New Chief Revenue Officer

SAN FRANCISCO  — San Francisco’s district attorney has dropped charges against a black teenager whose arrest by San Francisco officers was caught on video and has drawn comparisons to the George Floyd case. Kajon Busby, 19, was charged with misdemeanor crimes of criminal threats and resisting arrest, stemming from a Jan. 25 incident in which Busby was taken to the ground and handcuffed by several officers, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Wednesday. A bystander video posted on social media last week shows a female officer pressing her knee to Busby’s neck while he’s on his stomach, in a manner similar to the one used by the former Minneapolis officer accused of killing Floyd on Memorial Day, and ignited protests and outrage throughout the country. Police also released body camera footage of the arrest, and a separate clip that synced different body camera angles with the bystander video. While the charges were filed when District Attorney Chesa Boudin was in office, the top prosecutor said he was not personally involved in the charging decision. After he heard of the case this weekend, Boudin said he took a closer look at the police files, viewed the video and asked his team to reach out to the main victims. “After reviewing all that, I decided the case should be dismissed in full,” Boudin said in a Tuesday interview with the newspaper. “I went into court Monday morning and did that myself.”
The case prompted Boudin to implement a new policy that requires prosecutors to review all police body camera and independent video footage prior to filing charges for resisting arrest. In the case of Busby, Boudin said, bystander video footage emerged months after the fact and “told a different story.”
These circumstances, he said, “require us to dismiss in the interest of justice.”
San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott ordered an administrative review of the incident and invited the San Francisco Department of Police Accountability to independently investigate the arrest, according to a police statement. The idea of a Manchester United player walking down Deansgate or around the Trafford Centre while the club contemplates the unthinkable reality of relegation is almost too difficult to even comprehend now. United have been through their battles since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, but the fear of failing to even qualify for the Europa League is as bleak as it's got when looking at a league table. That wasn't the case five decades ago, when within three seasons of Sir Matt Busby retiring the incomprehensible had happened and United had been relegated to the second tier. These were very different days for footballers, who didn't live in pristine Cheshire villages and private gated communities. The players who had to live with the responsibility of being the ones who took Manchester United down remained in the public eye around a city wondering how it had gone from European glory to domestic infamy within six years. The Belfast-born midfielder had just turned 17 when he was handed his debut in a Manchester derby, scoring in a 3-3 draw. It was the first of 419 appearances and 71 goals for United. Busby had left the dugout by the time of McIlroy's debut, but the Northern Irishman still speaks with reverence about United's great manager and with pride about the fact he was his final signing in his 24 years at the club. "To be his last professional signing is a great honour for me, people remember me as that to this day, he was a fantastic manager," McIlroy said. Sony television executive Kathryn Busby has been named EVP of TriStar Television . She will lead the TV label, reporting to Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter, co-presidents of Sony Pictures Television Studios. Busby fills a void left by the October departure of TriStar head Hannah Minghella to become head of film of film of J.J. ABrams’ Bad Robot. For the last nine months of her 14-year Sony tenure, Minghella had a dual role as President of TriStar Pictures and TriStar Television, adding TriStar TV duties in January 2019. At the time of her exit, TriStar EVP Nicole Brown was named as her replacement at the Sony label, supervising TriStar’s film operations, while Parnell and Clodfelter took over running TriStar TV until a replacement was found. Most recently, Busby was SVP of Development at SPT’s boutique production unit for lower-cost TV series Gemstone Studios, headed by Marie Jacobson. At the unit, launched in March, she spearheaded the  production of drama series Absentia, starring Stana Katic, having overseen the show’s development before that. The thriller drama has been picked up by Amazon for a third season, as well as by AXN in territories, including Spain, Portugal, Central Europe and Latin America. Prior to Gemstone Studios, Busby was SVP, Development for SPT’s international networks. In that capacity, she oversaw development of the local language original series Ultraviolet, created by Wendy West  and executive produced by Barry Josephson, for AXN in Poland, and Netflix internationally. Sony Pictures Television announced Thursday that Kathryn Busby has been named executive vice president of TriStar Television, effective immediately. Busby will report to Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter, co-presidents of Sony Pictures Television Studios. Busby moves to TriStar from SPT’s boutique production unit Gemstone Studios, where she spearheaded the development and production of the drama series “Absentia.”
