NHBC, the UK’s leading new homes warranty and insurance provider, recently hosted the inaugural Build to Rent Innovators event in partnership with the British Property Federation. Held in central London, over 100 developers, investors, operators, architects, and other industry stakeholders gathered to explore ‘Innovation in the Face of Regulation’ the evening’s theme. The event was opened by keynote speaker Lee Rowley MP, now Minister of State for Housing. The minister spoke about the importance of innovation in the housing sector and the challenges the industry faces. He recognised the crucial role Build to Rent (BTR) is playing in the market and its value in helping relieve housing shortages. Mr Rowley also touched upon the government’s  role in balancing regulation with the pro-growth, pro-development stance it takes to house building. He also impressed the importance of housing quality, as well as volume; he encouraged high quality residential development in all sectors and expressed his support for all delivery routes to high standard homes. Black Girls Code (BGC)  has launched the Build a Beat Challenge with Ciara contest to inspire young coders nationwide. Founded in 2011, Black Girls Code is a nonprofit organization that engages African American girls and other youth of color with computer programming education. The organization offers computer programming, coding, website, robot, and mobile application building for girls and women of color ages 7 to 25. They also partner with schools, local organizations, and dedicated volunteers to get participants the resources they need to thrive. Build a Beat Challenge with Ciara
The contest, sponsored by Infosys Foundation USA , invites students ages 13 to 18 to code their own song for the chance to meet global superstar Ciara via a video call and win tech prizes that will help further their goals. The aim is to “spark a musical coding revolution.”
“I am proud to be supporting this initiative and empowering young people to take their passion for music and use it to develop technology skills that can give them a leg up in life,” said Ciara . Building a PC that can handle Warzone in 2023 is a complex affair for gamers trying to eke out as much performance as possible from their budget. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is out now. It happens to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2023, with a player base for the multiplayer component that completely dwarfs most of its peers. It comes with notable upgrades to Warzone, a new campaign, and new maps that aim to satisfy the nostalgia factor for many users expected to return to the title at launch. Call of Duty's online component, however, has become increasingly demanding. That's especially true for high-fidelity, high-resolution competitive gamers, who often see their PCs struggling to keep up with the burgeoning hardware requirements that are now a mainstay for the franchise. COD is particularly notorious for its large storage footprint and equally large patches on both modern consoles and PCs. This is in addition to Activision now making the COD HQ launcher mandatory for users looking to play the game at launch, though users who have already been playing Call of Duty: Warzone in the last few months will already be accounted for thanks to a series of updates that added it to their PCs previously. Activision Blizzard has published its hardware requirements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with specifications for a minimum multiplayer, single-player, recommended, and competitive specs published accordingly. The title requires a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or 11 in the latest update, plenty of SSD space, and modest CPU, GPU, and RAM requirements. With a stated 150 GB SSD requirement that can swell further with higher resolution assets, different game modes, new patches, and updates across seasons, users might be advised to push for at least a 500 GB SSD, though it does seem that a 1 TB SSD should be a more de facto choice for users. This seems to be on the lower side of the storage spectrum versus the PS5 version, which can clock in as much as 235 GB when all is said and done.
