Click the thumbs up > A thief who stole more than £40,000 of car parts in repeated raids on a JCT600 dealership in Bradford has been jailed for five years. Bradford Crown Court heard that 24-year-old Mohammed Shamraze, of Bradford Lane, Laisterdyke, Bradford, has caused “immeasurable loss” to the business on Sticker Lane due to an increase in insurance premiums, the cost of increased security and the erosion of the trust among customers leaving their vehicles at the premises. The Bradford Telegraph and Argus reported that Shamraze had returned time and time again to the JCT600 site to smash windows and grab iDrive units from BMW models. His raids on the site began on January 24 this year when he stole the entire central console from a BMW 420 causing loss and damage to the value of £5,500, it reported. Three cars were then targeted on February 28, before further raids on March 14, March 28 and April 4. At his trial last Wednesday (November 17), Shamraze pleaded guilty to five offences of theft at JCT600. He also confessed to smashing the window of a Volkswagen Golf parked on Westbury Street, Bradford, to steal its sat-nav system in broad daylight on April 8, and stealing a sat-nav from a car parked at a Rotherham garage in September, 2019. Vincent Blake-Barnard, mitigating on behalf of Shamraze, said that his client had spent six months in custody on remand and realised the mistakes he had made in a bid to repay debts to his cocaine dealer. Deputy Circuit Judge Neil Davey QC jailed Shamraze for five years by activating two previous suspended sentence orders in full, which will now run concurrently. Related content by tag :
