Developer of Computer-Aided Molecule Design (CAMD) related biotechnology and pharmaceutical products to shorten the research and development cycle. CAMD is used to predict experimental outcomes to improve the efficiency of the product discovery process. Their two software programs, Insight & Discover, are for use on supercomputers, high-end workstations, and array processors. Insight is a general purpose, three-dimensional, real-time molecular modeling program that can selectively display and manipulate molecules and their components. Discover is a molecular simulation program which has a broad spectrum of molecular mechanics and dynamics functions that have demonstrated applicability to drug and other molecular design problems. The company also offers contract research to commercial companies which involves proprietary research projects for problem solving or compound design. They have completed such projects in the areas of protein engineering, drug design, polymer structure and property function. The company provides two consotriums for their clients. The Potential Energy Functions Consortium provides member companies with the tools and expertise to obtain potential energy surfaces for molecules that have energy surfaces yet to be derived. The second consortium is for their development of advanced computer software for the prediction of polymer properties, encompassing statistical mechanical and atomistic approaches to polymer design. Merged with Molecular Simulations in August 1995.
