About Bioinnovation

BioInnovation Ltd, was set up to investigate improvements in drug delivery in cancer and other diseases. Originating from two clinicians with their own intellectual property, Bioincubator York Ltd matched this IP with a University research group and project management skills and financing from a pharmaceutical company to progress the project through development and on to clinical trial.At time of writing (March 2004) the company is dormant as there is a dispute between the financing pharma company and Bioinnovation Ltd regarding the development of the patented molecule. The MD expects to take the development process to the University of Milan.

This online, cohort-based program provides fundamental knowledge in therapeutics development while simultaneously building the professional skills necessary to succeed in the Canadian life sciences industry. “We are delighted to build on the success of the inaugural cohort of this program, where the participation and enthusiasm from the cohort and the demonstrated application of learning among participants was such a joy to be part of,” stated Dr. Ann Meyer, Director, BIS Program. “Feedback from participants reflected a valuable experience that will positively impact their transition to and success in commercially-focused life sciences roles and organizations.” The 8-week online program is structured into four courses that introduce therapeutics discovery, development, and commercialization. The program covers important topics such as intellectual property, the high-risk/high-reward nature of the industry, and the importance of incorporating inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility principles into therapeutics development. Participants work through practical activities that incorporate real-world examples, join live online discussion sessions with industry experts, and have the opportunity to build their peer networks across the country. The BIS Program: Foundations is open to individuals possessing at least a BSc. or equivalent degree, who are either newly employed in industry or working/training in academia, with a view to transition into commercial organizations.
