EY , BusinessLive and the Manchester Evening News are this week revealing our free list of the city region's biggest players in the tech field, ahead of a special roundtable discussion on Friday attended by a panel of industry experts. Taking place on Friday, September 10, they will discuss the growth of the city region's digital and tech sector, and celebrate the firms leading the field in the region. Building up to the event, we are revealing the Greater Manchester Tech 50 list in five parts. It began on Monday, when Stockport-based wearable dust monitoring device maker Trolex and Bolton-based telecoms specialist Firstcom were named among numbers 50 to 41 . Today, gaming firm Firesprite and fast-growing cloud company Matillion are among the firms listed in numbers 40 to 31. The Cheadle-based company claims to be creating the "library of tomorrow", engineering solutions helping to engage people and connect communities. Codethink Ltd A software engineering firm, Codethink specialises in system-level software infrastructure to support advanced technical applications. Matillion Ltd Cloud company Matillion makes number 34 in our list, with the fast-growing tech company also boasting offices in New York, Denver and Seattle. Earlier this year, it raised £100m in a funding round , with its founder and CEO Matthew Scullion set to feature in our roundtable at the end of the week . It has developed multiple brands, allowing it to operate across a "spectrum of technology solutions". She said: "Fast-growth companies are a core part of the Greater Manchester economy. "During the pandemic, we have seen many of these businesses thrive, buoyed by their ability to continually innovate and demonstrate resilience amid a challenging environment. "The future is bright for these businesses, with their digital DNA and profound agility, they can pivot seamlessly within the new normal. "It is clear that fast-growth companies provide contributions to society which go well beyond their relative size, and, as they continue to emerge from the pandemic in positions of strength, they will be the engine for future innovation and prosperity."
