Sojitz Corporation’s Acquisition of AustrianSolar Chile Cuatro and $68 Million Refinancing

Carey, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal, DLA Piper, Oppenhoff & Partner, Bofill Mir & Álvarez Jana and Barros & Errázuriz advised on the transactions AustrianSolar Chile Cuatro operating as a subsidiary of AustrianSolar is the owner of Huatacondo Solar power plant project. The Huatacondo plant – a $196 million project located in 100 kilometers south of Pozo Almonte in the Chilean region of Tarapacá – was initially developed by Santiago-based Desarrollos Fotovoltaicos de Chile (DFC), with France’s Eiffage Group then assuming EPC duties on the plant, which was commissioned and originally owned by AustrianSolar Chile SpA. After the acquisition, a jv including Sojitz Corporation, Sojitz Corporation of America, Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc. and Eiffage S.A. secured a $68 millones Loan to develop and operate Huatacondo solar power plant.
