More info Group 28 A body has been found during a search for a woman and her dog who went missing in Snowdonia. Prestatyn resident Ausra Plungiene, 56, was reported missing after she went for a walk with her dog in the national park on Tuesday (April 11). A huge police search was launched with the coastguard's helicopter seen circling the area on Wednesday morning (April 12). But North Wales Police has now confirmed that members of the Mountain Rescue Team found the body of a woman near to Yr Aryg in the Carneddau mountain range on Thursday afternoon (April 14). The dog was found alive at the location. Formal identification has yet to take place and Ausra's family have been informed of the discovery. Police said there would be no further updates issued about the case. Superintendent Owain Llewelyn said: “Our thoughts are with Ausra’s family at this most difficult time. I can confirm that a dog was found alive at the location. “I would like to offer my thanks to all involved in the search for Ausra, in what have been extremely difficult weather conditions. “Finally, I would appeal for Ausra’s family to be afforded some privacy during the coming days.”
