Back to Healio Auctus Surgical recently received FDA breakthrough device designation for its vertebral body tethering system for pediatric scoliosis and a patent for “spinal curvature modulation systems and methods,” according to a press release. The Auctus dynamic vertebral body tethering system is a non-fusion option for pediatric patients with scoliosis that will allow non-surgical spinal curvature adjustment through an external magnet controller. According to the release, this means just one treatment event will be necessary. The company also received a patent for specific technologies and methods for the system. “These back-to-back achievements continue the momentum in the development of this critical therapy,” John Barrett, the CEO and founder of Auctus Surgical, said in the release. “I am proud of the tremendous efforts put forth by our team – efforts that will make a concrete difference in the lives of suffering adolescents and their families.” Read more about
