About Asguard Networks
Asguard Networks is disrupting the M2M marketplace by building technology that enables flexible communications while being secure by default. Based on 8 years R&D and international standards, Asguard Networks SimpleConnect is a centrally-managed software layer (currently packaged as a security appliance) that meets the security and connectivity challenges faced by the ever-growing Internet of Things, particularly when attempting to establish connectivity and access over enterprise and untrusted 3rd party networks (cellular, DSL/Cable, Internet, SatCom). Much like traditional IT solutions protect our servers, laptops and mobile devices, our SimpleConnect product line enables the Internet of Things and its billions of connected devices to communicate via shared infrastructure in a way that is secure, robust, flexible and cost effective.

Email | Twitter Security startup Asguard Networks got a serious leg up this week. A few legs up, in fact. The company is relaunching as Tempered Networks, a new company co-founded by Asguard founder and former Boeing security engineer David Mattes and F5 Networks founder Jeff Hussey . Hussey will serve as president and CEO of the new company, which will be based on Asguard's technology. Mattes will become co-founder and chief technology officer of the new company. Hussey brings with him $2 million in seed funding from himself and previous investors, and far reach into the networking talent in the city. Already since Hussey joined in August, seven former or previously retired F5 employees have come on board. The company has grown from a team of four in August to 15 now and plans to have 20 to 30 employees by the end of the year, Hussey said. Tempered Networks makes a device and system that protects critical infrastructure from being hacked. It markets its system to companies that operate critical infrastructure, such as gas, water and electricity systems. The systems are big targets for hackers. The infamous Target breach happened because hackers made their way into the company's HVAC system, which was connected on a network to its other systems. More and more, all machines used by large enterprises are connected to each other, which makes them targets for hackers looking to do damage to industrial equipment or find a back door into other systems. Much of the connected industrial equipment runs legacy version of operating systems and software, which are often vulnerable to even the most rudimentary attacks. Page 1
