inDrive partners with Arrive Alive to drive SA road safety

Apr 28, 2023

Read time: 3 minutes inDrive has partnered with Arrive Alive Online Road Safety initiative in South Africa. inDrive, which recently launched its global hackathon, InCode 2023, to promote safe driving, has partnered with Arrive Alive Online Road Safety Initiative, to educate young South Africans on road safety. The California- headquartered e-hailing company announced the collaboration yesterday, saying the aim of this partnership is to tackle safety issues and decrease the number of road accidents on South African roads. It said the partnership with Arrive Alive will leverage the e-hailing platform's extensive reach, as the mobility app globally has over 150 million downloads. “Through this partnership, inDrive and Arrive Alive will launch a road safety campaign that targets young drivers and passengers, who are among the most vulnerable groups on South African roads. The campaign will use innovative approaches, to engage young people and promote road safety practices and habits,” said inDrive in a company statement. inDrive’s business development representative in Africa, Vincent Lilane, said: “With our extensive reach and innovative approach to mobility, we believe we can make a significant impact in reducing accidents and improving safety for ride-hailing passengers and drivers." Johan Jonk, manager, Arrive Alive Online Initiative, added: "By leveraging the power of technology, we believe we can create a safer road culture in our country." The inDrive and Arrive Alive partnership comes a few days after the e-hailing platform launched its InCode 2023 hackathon, with €16,000 prize fund, to boost safety. The hackathon is challenging participants to improve safety by discovering ways to ‘make ride-hailing safer and more secure for all, so both riders and drivers have complete peace of mind’, said a company statement.
