Equestrian Tech Enables Connected Saddle, Girth To Track Performance

Mar 9, 2018

CWD’s iJump connected saddle was a breakthrough, enabling equestrians to track the performance of the horse. The canter and jump at the approach can be measured along with the frequency, length and speed of strides and also balance and symmetry. Now there’s even more technology coming in the space, as CWD has partnered with French startup Arioneo on the iPulse connected girth, which also can be connected to a mobile app to track the physiological performance of the horse, including heart rate Heart rate isn’t easy to measure, according to Arioneo, due to the horse’s coat, sweat and vibration while performing. But the girth has integrated electrodes that can overcome these barriers. The cardiac signal data is sent via Bluetooth to the iJump app that can analyze the data. “Ever since we began, we have been driven by a strong ambition to rejuvenate the equine sector and health of equine athletes through new technology,” Arioneo co-founders Valentin Rapin and Erwan Mellerio said in a statement. “We aspire to develop equine research and science by adopting technology designed for humans to horses.” Sharing
