Atenuarea Republicii Moldova la Schimbările Climatice Cambridge University spin-out Amantys targets wind turbine market

Nov 18, 2022

Amantys, a recently-launched spin-out from the University of Cambridge in the UK, said it will target the wind turbine market with its technology that aims to simplify medium voltage design for high-power models. Bryn Parry, managing director of Amantys, told NewNet its recent inclusion into the Carbon Trust Entrepreneur Fast Track scheme and through it the incubator partnership arrangement it has with science and engineering company TTP has allowed it to increase awareness of industry members in the sector. ‘We have specified a package of work with TTP which has greatly helped us to refine our story and put us into contact with companies who are working in the field,’ he said. Amantys recently received funding from the IP Group, which specialises in commercialising intellectual properties, and said the first application of its technology is for medium voltage inverters in high-power wind turbines. ‘Large wind turbines require medium voltage power systems to deliver the power efficiently,’ Parry said. Its relationship with the Carbon Trust has also allowed enabled the company to showcase its technology to the cleantech investor community. Dr Robert Fender of Cambridge Enterprise, the university’s commercialisation office, said, ‘The technology developed at Cambridge is being applied to real world problems. The commercialisation of intellectual property from academic research is crucial to the growth of the cleantech industry.’ Share in:
