Logix completes Alpheus acquisition, rechristens itself as Logix Fiber Networks

Jan 4, 2018

The newly rebranded Logix Fiber Networks now has more than 5,800 route miles of network. (Image: istocksdaily) Logix Communications has wrapped its acquisition of Dallas-based Alpheus Communications, advancing its status as one of the largest independent fiber providers in Texas. Financial details of the acquisition were not revealed. By completing this deal, Logix gains tremendous network scale and expands its offerings in the desirable DASH (Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston) markets. The new provider, which rebranded as Logix Fiber Networks, now has more than 5,800 route miles of network, serves over 12,500 business and carrier customers and connects to 75 data centers in Texas. “The expanded network created from this acquisition perfectly positions Logix to capitalize on the enormous opportunities we see in our markets,” said Matthew Murphy, the current currently executive chairman of Logix’s board of directors, in a release. Besides renaming the company, Logix named David Dane as CEO, succeeding interim CEO Matt Murphy, co-founder and partner of Logix equity partner Astra Capital Management. Equity investors in the transaction comprised the existing ownership group led by Astra, as well as Astra Partners I and other co-investment partners, including Portfolio Advisors. Affiliates of SunTrust, Credit Suisse and Brightwood Capital provided the financing commitment and acted as joint lead arrangers on the debt placement. While this acquisition clearly expands Logix’s fiber reach, it also gives the provider a larger potential customer base to extend other services it recently debuted. For example, its Hosted PBX offering  includes 90 advanced-calling functions as well business continuity and disaster recovery. Read more on
