Mantis Vision buys US co Alces Technology The Petah Tikva based company, which offers advanced 3D content capture and sharing technologies, has acquired the Utah based depth sensing startup. Israeli 3D mobile sensing developer Mantis Vision today announced that it has completed the acquisition of US company Alces Technology Inc. No financial details were disclosed although sources suggested the acquisition was for about $10 million. Earlier this month Petah Tikva based Mantis Vision raised $55 million and the company has raised $84 million to date. Based in Utah, Alces is a depth sensing startup with patented high-resolution structured light depth capture technology. RELATED ARTICLES Mantis Vision offers advanced 3D content capture and sharing technologies for a wide array of applications, including 3D cameras for smartphones, AR/VR devices, professional scanning cameras and live 3D volumetric studios. Headquartered in Israel, the company has offices in the US, China and Slovakia. Mantis Vision’s current patented structured light smart decoding technology offers significant advantages to other approaches, with higher accuracy and resolution, less noise, and high resilience to motion artifacts, enabling Mantis Vision to build quality 3D sensing devices and content at the best price and performance in the market. Alces technology will contribute to and expand Mantis Vision's technological advantages to new horizons. Mantis Vision's technology was recently incorporated into the Xiaomi Mi8 flagship mobile phone for facial authentication with amazing point cloud density. Mantis Vision founder and CEO Gur Arie Bitan told "Globes" that Alces employees would join Mantis's operations in the US.
