The million bees they hope to house represent about one for each of the AMA’s 980,000 members. The bees are also available for “adoption,” with funds raised from that program going to the AMA Community Foundation. The AMA points out that one in three bites of food is directly connected to a pollinator. They’re prioritizing such creatures with another project in the sustainable vein, a pledge to reforest 1,000 acres of land by 2026, by selecting plants and trees that support bees and other pollinators.
