About 360desktop
360desktop(tm) is the convergence of the web and the desktop. If users "get" what they mean by Web 2.0, users can think of us as Desktop 2.0.nWe've been flat out on the product since 2005, and the company's Melbourne, Australia development base has meant it has been easy to operate in stealth mode for this long.n360desktop was built to allow users to easily grab their favorite web content from across the web, and put it right on their expanded desktop, while giving partners a more effective way to deliver their interactive Web content, beyond the browser, directly to their user. The Company, Product and Team are the result of a lifetime of influences. A blend of the company's technology roots - virtual tour software/multimedia tools (founding IPIX in Australia and VRbrochure); the company's own frustration (I need more desktop space); and the crying need of the company's users (I want the web on the desktop - not pages and pages, just the bits I want). The company's business model (we do need to generate revenue), is based on keeping the product free for users, content creators and developers, but changing brand partners a fee when users (and other users) download and use the branded 360 content and widgets they create (but never pop-up ads, ever). So, if users like the brand, or find the 360s they create interesting, entertaining or useful, please download them . If not, then don't - it's their decision. The company know that any branding or sponsorship that is part of the 360desktop experience must be relevant, subtle and (even) entertaining. The company know that if it impacts their enjoyment and users stop using the 360desktop platform, then this is bad for everyone. Importantly, the company's plan is to never do anything unexpected with 360 content that users create (like deliver ads into them). Because the company's #1 rule is "user experience comes first", and users will always be told before users download any 360, if it is sponsored in any way. If users enjoy 360desktop, please let me know, but also, if users have any great ideas, or anything that users would like us to do differently, I want to know that too.
